About
The pursuit of craft I once dabbled in as a child
I’ve been getting back into illustration over the past few years; a pursuit of craft I once dabbled in as a child but lost sight of. It's something I was deeply passionate about, but along my journey, it was lost to graphic design and dance. Two worlds I used as an outlet for myself professionally and personally, not realizing that they were merely a proxy for my underlying passion.
Over the years, I was inspired by other artists and I began drawing again in 2013 trying to find a rhythm, to begin exploring myself as an artist. I stumbled onto a wonderful world when a home decor project took on a mind of its own. What started with a silly idea to draw on porcelain plates, birthed a rich world of sea creatures. Nyla and I came up with 6 creatures to grace our kitchen wall: Jean Le Prawn, Kid Squid, Phil the Blowfish, Lenny the Seahorse and an octopus. Here was born the pretentious sea creatures and my love and curiosity for sea life realized.
Which brings us here a look at my journey to become and artist.
